February 14, 1971 - Founding of Cagayan Capitol College by Madame Laureana S. Rosales & Engr. Sesenio S. Rosales. First College President: Madame Laureana S. Rosales
June 1971 - Opening of the High School Department along with Liberal Arts, Education, Commerce and Secretarial as initials collegiate offerings.
June 1973 - Opening of the School of Midwifery and inauguration of its complimentary Maternity Hospital.
June 1974 - Opening of the Maritime Programs
June 1976 - Opening of the College of Agriculture, the College of Engineering and College of Nursing along with the upgrading of the Maternity Hospital into a modern 150-bed capacity General Hospital and commissioning of the maritime training ship, the M/V Capitol College.
June 1981 - Opening of the Graduate School.
June 1987 - Opening of the St. Francis Learning Center, the Pre-School and Elementary Department of the College.
June 1993 - Opening of the College of Criminology.
September 1998 - Assumption into office by Atty. Casimiro B. Juarez Jr. as second College President.
March 20, 1999 - Granting by the Philippines Association of Colleges and Universities Commission an Accreditation (PACUCOA) of Level II formal accredited status to the College of Education, College of Commerce, and the College of Engineering. The Civil Engineering Department was subsequently designated as a Center of Development for Region X, by the Commission for Higher Education (CHED)
January 29, 1999 - Granting by PACUCOA of Level II formal accredited status to the College of Arts and Sciences.
April 26, 1999 - Granting by Det Norske Veritas of the Management System Certificate (ISO 9001) to the Institute of Maritime Education.
June 1999 - Opening of the College of Computer Science.
June 11, 1999 - Granting by CHED of the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program Certificate ( ETEEAP ) in the Liberal Arts, Teacher Education, Commerce. Engineering and Maritime Education Programs
December 4, 2000 - Granting by PACUCOA of Level I Formal accredited Status to the Master of Arts and the Master of Business Management Programs of the Graduate School; and of Level II First Reaccredited Status to the Civil Engineering, the College of Commerce, and the College of Education.
October 8, 2001 - Granting by PACUCOA of Level II First Reaccredited Status to the College of Arts and Sciences.
June 24, 2002 - Granting by PACUCOA of Level I Accredited Status to the College of Nursing.
September 16, 2002 - Granting by PACUCOA of Level I Accredited Status to the Marine Engineering and the Marine Transformation Program.
February 3, 2003 - Formal Granting by the Commission on Higher Education of University status to Cagayan Capitol College now named CAPITOL UNIVERSITY.
May 2, 2003 - Formal Inauguration of Capitol University and the Installation of Atty. Casimiro B. Juarez, Jr. as First President.
February 14, 2004 - University Academic Awards and Convocations for the Conferment of Doctor of Humanities honoris causa on Dr. Daisaku Ikeda, founder of Soka University of Japan, President of Soka Gakai International.
February 14, 2005- University Academic Awards and Convocations for the Conferment of President Emeritus Madame Laureana S. Rosales founder and first College President of Cagayan Capitol College.
July 13, 2005 - University Academic Awards and Convocations for the Conferment of Persona Integra Award on Rev. Fr. Miguel A. Bernad, S.J
